Freshers' week is a busy time - you want to be able to make the most out of the Freshers' Fair in amongst all the blur! Check-out our Freshers' Fair FAQ below for more information. 

Do I have to pay to get in? No! It's absolutely free. If you want to sign up for a student group though you'll need to pay on card, so don't leave your wallet behind entirely!

Can I sign up to Student Groups at the Fair? Yes, as long as you've activated your Durham SU account. You'll need to 

Activate Your Account - If you’re a Fresher, or don’t already have a durhamsu.com account, you’ll have received an email with an activation link to your @durham.ac.uk email (sender info@durhamsu.com). You need to follow this to activate your account, and create a password in order to purchase memberships. Can’t find the email? Get a new activation email sent here.

Decide what’s for you -  use the information here to find the sign-up page for the groups your interested in, or to find out when they’ll be at the Freshers’ Fair - then you can check out their displays and ask any questions you have in person.

Option 1:  join online - Once your accounts activated you can sign up online! You can find the link to sign up to any group at https://www.durhamsu.com/signup.

Option 2: sign up at the Fair - Once your account is activated, you can sign up by at the Fair. But be warned, we can’t take cash! Durham SU staff with laptops and tablets in Dunelm House (Kingsgate) and Elvet Riverside to take card payments, so keep a note of which societies you want to join as you go around!

Is it only Students' Union societies that will be at the Fair? No, there will also be stall from Team Durham Sports, Music Durham, Durham Student Theatre, Student Community Action (volunteering) as well as commercial stalls. To find out when they'll be there, check out the event  

Where is the fair? This year for the first time, the Fair will be held across two building Durham Students' Union at Dunelm House and Elvet Riverside. 

What if I can't come along the day that the group I want to join is? That's no problem - you can contact most groups on Facebook or if not contact dsu.engagement@durham.ac.uk to find about more about the group. If you 100% want to join a group, you can join here. 

Is it all in the Students' Union? No - make sure you visit both the Students' Union AND Elvet Riverside (only a few hundred yards away) so you don't miss out!

Can I join SCA, Team Durham etc in the same way I join the Students' Union groups? No, the joining process is different, and some will have tryouts etc. The reps on the tables will be able to help you out.
