Overview of Students Groups
The Union is the home for nearly 200 student groups (that’s you) which cover a variety of interests from Aerial Arts to Yoga. These groups consist of the societies (which make up the majority), student media, the Associations and DUCK. The societies are sub-divided into 6 categories for representational purposes: Academic, Active, Arts & Music, Hobbies & Games, International & Faith and Political & Causes.
The Union provides support and resources to student groups to enable them to run effectively.
This includes training, grants, a financial account, budgeting advice, insurance, and equipment and facilities hire.
There is also a wide range of storage facilities available to student groups for safekeeping of equipment for your group.
Other opportunities are available to Durham students through college clubs and societies, and within Experience Durham which sits in the University’s governance structure.
