Description

Durham Trans Association exists to support and represent students who identify as trans, non-binary, and/or otherwise non-cisgender, as well as those questioning their gender identity. Our activities include:

Welfare

Our welfare officer strives to hold weekly drop-in sessions, offering support, a listening ear, and confidential signposting to relevant services. Students can also access support via our other executive and non-executive officers, and through our social media pages and email.

Campaigns

We organise an annual Trans Awareness Week in November, as well as other campaigns throughout the year on issues such as Gender Recognition Act reform. We also work on campaigns in collaboration with other associations and organisations. For example, we work with the LGBT+ Association on campaigns for LGBT+ History Month in February.

Platforming your voice

We enable and support trans students to shape policy and campaigns, to effect change within our Students’ Union, Durham University, and nationally through NUS.

Socials

We run regular social events, tailored to students’ needs and feedback.

We hold elections for executive and non-executive officers annually, with unfilled positions also elected termly.

We welcome everyone to get in touch and get involved!
