Tell us about yourself

I'm from China, I'm currently an undergraduate student in education studies for my first year, and I helped my school's admissions department for a while during my high school years. Currently, I am a freshman course representative for education studies.

Why is the role important to you?

For this position, it gives Durham students more experience with volunteer activities. I personally love helping others, and I have found that more and more people in society are reluctant to volunteer because it doesn't pay. I hope that I can give more people the pleasure of helping others and that I can help those who really need it. At the same time, as an international student, I hope that I can do something small through volunteering to help warm up my fellow students who are coming to study in a foreign country and help them to adapt to Durham as soon as possible.

Why should people vote for you?

I am an easy-going person who has participated in many team competitions and knows how to work well with different personalities. I am very good at taking photos, so I am able to record every volunteer activities in a timely manner to bring more attention to Durham and the people who need help. If I am lucky enough to be a member of the Student Union, I think I can really warm up to students and professors by volunteering to do small things, like creating several events and distributing gifts during the holidays. I hope you'll give me a chance!

If elected, what sort of officer would you be?

When I'm elected, I'll let the students decide together by voting on the activities they want to do. I’ll also try to expand my volunteer activities to include more majors that more students will be motivated to participate in the activities. Then, some students and professors will be able to get help when they need it, even if it's just for trivial matters. Finally, I would like to say that I’ll do what the students agree and want me to do after I am elected, and I’ll try to improve the standard of college life as much as possible.

In one sentence, tell us what you imagine Durham could become

Durham will be a place full of warmth and respect, of energy and security, of people from different countries, of harmony and beauty.
