Description

Welcome to DUNS! We are Durham's first negotiation society, established in 2021 and shortlisted for Best New Student Group at the SU Awards. We enhance your negotiation skills through regular training sessions, competitions, and guest speaker events, with plenty of opportunities to make new friends!

Why is negotiation important? If you are a good negotiator, things are much more likely to go your way. From your personal life to your career, the skill of negotiation seeps its way into most aspects of your life. Our training sessions cover a broad range of scenarios with a practical focused approach, from prenup agreements to complex financial deals. No topic is out of reach.

What makes negotiation different from debate? Debating is all about winning your argument and defeating the other side. Negotiation is about coming to an agreement with the other side, compromise, listening and finding that win-win scenario. Negotiation is more useful in practice, as you will find that in life you are trying to maintain a good relationship with the other party whilst aiming for a good outcome for yourself.

*Our fee covers materials for training sessions, competitions and extra benefits for our members at guest speaker events.
