Description

Durham University Hong Kong Public Affairs and Social Service Society (DUHKPASS) is a student-run, non-profit making organisation which strives to promote awareness in Hong Kong related social issues and acting as a platform for exchange of ideas on public issues of both Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. We act as a platform for cohesion between students who show an appreciation for our values. Through our balanced combination of social, academic, career and public affairs events, we enable members to obtain a well-rounded university education. Whilst striving to provide our members with the best possible student experience, we are fully aware of the need to give back to our wider community both in the UK and in Hong Kong.

Realising the role and responsibility of a University student to contribute to the well-being of the society, the Durham University Hong Kong Public Affairs and Social Service Society (DUHKPASS) aims to maintain, improve and promote notions of student awareness on current affairs (across the world) by organising a large variety of activities including debate, forums, competitions and social work. Apart from the United Kingdom, the activities will also be carried out in Hong Kong.

Apart from self-initating activities and promoting various notions, the Society also aims to bridge the gap between Hong Kong students and other students in Durham by co-operating with other student groups at the University and organise different types of campaigns and activities. The Society believes that by doing so, its aim of acting as a platform of cohesion between different students who show an appreciation of the Society's values can be further manifested and maximised.
