Rome 2018
The Theology Society is delighted to be running a trip to Rome between the 9th and 12th April 2018. The total price for the trip is £260 (reduced price of £245 for members). This is to be paid in two instalments with the deposit of £150 to be paid by Friday 24th November. The second payment of £110 (£95 for members) is to be paid by Friday 26th of January. You can pay online via the DSU website – search for . The attached form also needs to be completed and handed in to Ella McElligott, Mika McAuley Christopher or to Abbey House office by Friday 24th November – this is as crucial as the payment.
The trip includes:
- Flights (London Gatwick airport)
- 3 nights bed & breakfast at The Yellow Hostel.
- A visit to the Vatican City, including the Papal audience and a look around St Peter’s Basilica and possibly* the Scavi.
- Entry to the Colosseum and surrounding ruins, as well as optional trip to Castel Sant’Angelo.
- A visit to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo and Torre Argentina.
- Unlimited tube and bus pass (i.e. Travel while we are in Rome). Each person will be given a 48 hour travel card for bus/metro use on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the trip
Please note that you will need to pay for your own meals – there is a kitchen at the hostel – as well as any extra spending or attractions you would like to go to (there is a lot of free stuff!). You will also be required to buy travel insurance, and have an updated EHIC card, the details of which will need to be passed onto the organisers before the trip. Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months following the 9th April.
On Monday 9th April we will be flying with EasyJet from London Gatwick Airport, with the flight departing at 15:50pm and arriving in Rome at Fiumicino Airport for 19:20pm. On Thursday 12th April we will be departing from Rome Fiumicino Airport at 10:50am and arriving in London Gatwick airport at 12:33pm. You will need to arrange transport to and from these airports yourself (please remember that we will need to be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure). As we are only in Rome for four days, in the interest of keeping costs to a minimum we are travelling only with cabin luggage. Your cabin luggage bag must be NO BIGGER THAN 56 x 45 x 25 cm – it is advisable to bring a small, secure bag to travel to activities with during the trip, but please remember that this must fit into your cabin luggage for the flights to and from Rome.
We have had a lot of fun organising this trip for everyone so far, and are really looking forward to what promises to be a truly enjoyable experience at a fantastic cost for what we have planned. We look forward to lots of you joining us!

In order to confirm your place on this trip, a deposit of £150 must have been paid and your participant form handed in by no later than Friday 24th November 2018.
During the trip, you will be responsible for all of your own belongings. The society cannot be held responsible for any/loss of items during the course of the trip.
You are also responsible for making your own way to Gatwick airport on the 9th April. Please aim to arrive at least 2 hours before the flight (15:50pm).
These terms and conditions shall apply to all transactions conducted through this website. Read them before you place an order and we also recommend that you print out a copy for your records.
Please note that in these terms and conditions "you", "your", "yours" and "yourself" are references to any person ordering tickets from the website, and "we", "our" and "ours" are references to us, the website.
We may change these terms and conditions from time to time without notice. Any changes will apply to subsequent orders.
To place an order for any product you must follow the online instructions, and make sure all details submitted are accurate to the best of your knowledge. If you submit erroneous details then you may not receive the correct order at the correct address.
When you place an order you are offering to purchase products subject to these terms and conditions. We will not be bound to supply any tickets ordered until we have notified you of our acceptance of an order. We are entitled to reject an order, and if we do so we will inform you that we have rejected it and also the reason for rejecting it.
Ticket confirmations are sent via a reference numbered email, which you must use as stated on the email. You must show this confirmation and valid proof of ID to collect tickets from our box office. Details will be notified in advance.
Refunds and cancellations
Tickets can only be refunded if the event has been cancelled or moved to another date. All refunds will be at the ticket value of booking and will not include any booking fees.
All tickets are advertised for sale subject to availability. In the event of us being unable to supply the tickets ordered, we will inform you as soon as possible. Where tickets are unavailable for any reason, we may propose to provide you with substitute tickets of equivalent quality and price. Should any tickets ordered not be available or any substitute tickets not be to your reasonable satisfaction, we ask that you return the tickets to us at your expense. If you have already paid for the substituted tickets or any tickets that are not available (for example, where you have paid by personal cheque), a full refund of the purchase price will be given. Please note that booking fees are not refundable.
We try to ensure that the prices indicated on the website are up to date and accurate. However, we accept no liability for any errors and omissions and the final price of tickets is the price in force at the time of us accepting your order. If a ticket has been listed at a lower price by mistake and you have ordered that ticket, we will inform you as soon as possible and give you the option to either reconfirm your order at the correct price or to cancel it. If we are unable to contact you we will treat the order as cancelled. If you cancel and have already paid for the tickets, a full refund will be issued.
