Description

Durham University Labour Club acts as a forum for Labour Party members or supporters to meet in Durham. They can discuss and debate topical issues, by all means voicing concern with the national party, and hear from politicians and authors. The Club will also campaign for the local and national Labour party, as well as on campus to spread Labour values amongst the wider community. Durham University Labour Club will always be open-minded on any political issue, and encourages individual political thought. There will be socials for members to meet like- minded people, as well as events with other societies, political and other. Most of all, the Club will provide a relaxed and open atmosphere for anyone who defines themselves as a Labour supporter to develop their opinions and beliefs, as well as having the opportunity to campaign for the Party.

We aim:

  • To encourage people to consider and develop their own political views
  • To enable students to hear from top political thinkers
  • To provide a way for members to become involved with campaigning, both on campus and in the wider community
  • To provide a social network for like-minded students
  • To spread Labour values and campaign for the Labour Party to win local and national elections
