What is intersectionality?
The overlapping of social identities that contributes to specific oppression and discrimination.
Explanation of Traditional Feminism:
Traditionally feminism has been centred around white women’s fight for the right to vote, choice and equal pay. Traditional feminism has been found to be exclusionary to people of colour, trans and gender neutral rights, disability, etc.
Who we are, our goals and what we do:
We are inclusionary of all genders, sexes, races, religions, disabilities and ethnicities.
We strive to educate ignorance of the complex matter of oppression. One person is never affected by the same experiences as another. It is our goal to teach empathy as well as educating about the realities of living under oppression and the effect social systems have on lives, mental health and physical well-being.
We hope to provide a safe environment for respectful discussion, discourse as well as socialising.
Hopefully providing a place for like-minded people to meet.
Remember that you are not alone!
