Durham University Hong Kong UnderGround Society (Durham UG) is a student-run society established in 2017. Durham UG's primary objective is to foster inter-university collaboration and provide informal networking opportunities for Durham Hong Kong students. Additionally, Durham UG aims to promote Hong Kong's unique hip-hop culture by acting as a platform for students to experience it firsthand.
Since its inception, Durham UG has built an extensive network through regular social events and collaborations with other universities' Hong Kong and Chinese Societies. Through these collaborations, students have the opportunity to participate in joint-school social gatherings and events both in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, enabling them to engage with a vibrant cultural community and expand their network in a welcoming and inclusive environment. By joining Durham UG, students can not only expand their network and engage with a diverse cultural community, but also develop essential skills in interpersonal communication and effective navigation of social situations. These skills are invaluable beyond the university experience and are particularly beneficial in the professional world.
