Amnesty International is the largest grassroots human rights organisation in the world, comprising over ten million people fighting to create a safer, more just world. Amnesty's student groups are instrumental to the growth of the movement, mainly through our campaigning and fundraising work. At DUAI, we hold regular member’s meetings to encourage intimate, timely discussions of human rights topics and individual cases of human rights abuse. Additionally, we hold several protests or petitioning events during the year, both focusing on local concerns and acting alongside the work of Amnesty International UK. Today more than ever, young people have the chance to translate their interest in human rights – from torture to the climate breakdown, from women’s rights to corporate accountability – into meaningful action.
