Welcome to the Ahlulbayt Society at Durham University! Our society is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Ahlulbayt, the Prophet Muhammad, and his family, while promoting the values of justice, peace, and virtue that are central to the Ithna ‘Ashari Shia Islamic tradition. We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all students, regardless of their background or religious affiliation, can learn about the rich cultural, theological, and historical heritage of the Ahlulbayt. What We Offer: • Educational Events: Talks, seminars, and discussions led by knowledgeable scholars and community leaders exploring the teachings and contributions of the Ahlulbayt. • Community Service: Initiatives aimed at giving back to the local community, reflecting the altruistic spirit of the Ahlulbayt. • Interfaith Dialogue: Active participation in interfaith activities to promote mutual understanding and respect among different religious groups on campus. • Supportive Community: A network where students can find friendship, support, and opportunities for spiritual growth. • Social Events: Fun and collaborative events with other local student Ahlulbayt Societies such as hikes and picnics. Join Us: Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of Shia Islam, engage with vibrant cultural traditions, or simply seek a supportive community, the Ahlulbayt Society at Durham University welcomes you. Together, we can make a positive impact on campus and beyond, inspired by the exemplary lives of the Ahlulbayt.
