Student Voice Coordinator (Business)

Introduction

We’re excited to be hiring a Student Voice Coordinator to work with students from Durham University Business School. You’ll bring students together, to create and share opportunities that advance student-led social education through societies and events, and improve academic-led formal education through research, policy and campaigns.

Role responsibilities

As our Student Voice Coordinator, you’ll support student leaders and volunteers across the Business School, including Student Officers, academic representatives, and society leaders. You’ll provide them with insight, resources and opportunities to create strong academic communities.

This might take the form of training, coaching, committee briefings, research, and relationship building.

You’ll build constructive relationships with partners across Durham University, especially within the Business School, to help students influence their formal education. You’ll be our expert on the issues that are important for students within this Faculty.

You’ll also contribute to the wider Student Voice Team by advising students leaders, volunteers, and staff on emerging issues in education policy.

Person specification
We’re looking for a passionate change-maker who’d excel at supporting volunteers to thrive in their roles. You’ll be able to build effective networks and develop productive external relationships, as well as have experience of delivering high quality projects and events. You’ll also be able to conduct and present research into key Higher Education issues. You’ll be a collaborative team player, who is comfortable working in a democratic, student-led environment. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

The Team
You’ll be working as part of the talented Student Voice Team. Together, we create opportunities for students to advance their formal and social education by:

  • coaching and supporting student leaders to achieve their goals
  • bringing students together in academic communities
  • providing insight, so that students can make informed decisions about what matters to them
  • developing and supporting evidence-based decision-making processes, that allow students to influence their union
