Clinical Career Talk

Inside Clinical Psychology: Routes, Realities & What They Don’t Tell You

Join Durham University Psychology Society for an insightful evening exploring the modern pathway into Clinical Psychology.

We are delighted to host an NHS Clinical Psychologist who will share her journey from doctoral training to clinical practice, offering honest reflections on navigating placements, standing out in competitive applications, and building a sustainable career within the NHS.

The session will explore:
• How routes into Clinical Psychology are evolving
• What truly strengthens a DClinPsy application beyond grades
• The realities of working in the NHS
• Non-linear career paths and “sideways” experience
• Private practice and alternative career models

This is a unique opportunity to gain transparent, experience-based insight into one of the most competitive and sought-after career paths in psychology.

✨ All proceeds from this event will be donated to charity.
We are proud to use this event not only to support students’ career development, but also to contribute to a meaningful cause.
