Chunmiao Liu
International Officer (part-time) candidate

Candidate Profile

Tell students about yourself

I’m Chunmiao Liu, a level 2 Accounting and Finance student. I’m passionate about academic excellence, sustainability, and student voice. I am a founder of two companies, one for a learning charity, one for international consultant. I care deeply about improving how students experience teaching, feedback, and support. I’ve engaged with academic discussions across modules and believe our voices should shape the decisions that affect our learning.

If elected, what sort of Officer can students expect you be?

Students can expect me to be proactive, transparent, and genuinely student-led. I believe change happens when we listen first and act strategically. I would strengthen communication between reps and the University, ensure feedback loops are clear, and make academic issues visible and actionable. With an experience of founding an language learning charity, I bring leaderships, structured thinking, and the ability to turn ideas into measurable outcomes. Most importantly, I will create spaces where students feel confident speaking up and make sure those voices lead to real change.

Why is this role important to you?

Education shapes not only our degrees but our confidence, opportunities, and sense of belonging. As an international student, I understand how important clear communication, fair assessment, and inclusive teaching are to student success. As mentioned above I am a founder of a charity because I believe the stories of every girl who logs into our class hoping the world might one day bend a little less painfully for her. The same meaning, I care about ensuring that every student, regardless of background, feels heard in academic decision-making.

I want to see stronger feedback transparency, better academic support across departments, and more collaboration between student reps and staff. Too often, students raise concerns but don’t see visible outcomes. I want to close that gap.

This role matters because academic experience is at the heart of university life. If we improve how students learn, participate, and are represented, we improve everything else.

What is your pitch to students?

Your voice deserves more than acknowledgment, it deserves action. I will champion transparent feedback, stronger rep influence, and real academic improvements. Vote for clarity, accountability, and student-led change. When your belief planted a seed in us, and that seed grew into a purpose. Slogan: “Your Voice. Real Change.”
