Chloe Zhao
Faculty President Candidate - Business (part-time)

Candidate Profile

Tell students about yourself

I’m Chloe Zhao, a first-year Business and Management student. I have experience in large-scale event delivery with TEDxDurhamUniversity, volunteering with the British Heart Foundation, and conservation work with Durham Wildlife Trust. Bilingual in Mandarin and English, I am organised, approachable, and calm under pressure. I am dedicated to improving the Business student experience—making academic support clearer, feedback more effective, and opportunities easier to access for everyone.

If elected, what sort of Officer can students expect you be?

You can expect a visible, practical, and responsive Faculty President. I will listen through regular drop-ins and surveys, take clear priorities to meetings, and follow up until there is an outcome. I promise transparent communication with simple progress updates, so you know exactly what is being escalated. My approach is collaborative and inclusive: I will represent students across all backgrounds and year groups, ensuring that quieter voices are heard—not just the loudest.

Why is this role important to you?

Business students deserve a learning experience that is clear, supportive, and fair. As a first-year, I’ve seen how course information and assessment expectations can sometimes feel unclear, especially for students new to the UK education system. Small improvements—clearer guidance, faster feedback, and accessible support—make a huge difference to our confidence and grades.

This role matters to me because it connects student voice directly to academic decision-making. I want feedback to lead to tangible action, not just be collected and forgotten. Additionally, I want to bridge the gap between students and practical opportunities: skills sessions, mentoring, and alumni connections. My goal is a Business community where every student feels informed, supported, and ready to progress.

What is your pitch to students?

Vote Chloe Zhao for Faculty President Business: for clearer support, strongerrepresentation, and better opportunities. I will turn your feedback into action, pushing for transparent assessments and accessible academic help. Let’s create a Business Faculty that works for everyone.

Clear Support. Real Change. Better Opportunities
