On the 28 February or 7 March, you could be falling from the sky in the name of charity. It might sound like your worst nightmare, but just think about ticking an item off your bucket list and adding to the DUCK charity buckets at the same time.
The skydive is a regular DUCK event, so we spoke to previous DUCK divers to find out about their past experience in the run-up to the latest challenge.
A small group of students arrived in the morning and were given a safety talk explaining exactly what would happen and what to do during the dive, before being fitted for harnesses. The staff were friendly and reassuring – exactly what you need from people about to throw you out of an aeroplane. The process was efficient and the students were soon in the plane. They described the skydive as a lot of fun, saying everyone felt amazing afterwards and that they couldn’t recommend it more.
For the upcoming DUCK Skydive, students will be taken directly to the Peterlee Skydive Academy site, where participants will fall from heights of up to 10,000ft at speeds reaching 120-180mph. Each participant will be able to choose their own charity to donate the money they raise to, with DUCK recommending The Local Charities Fund.
