Joining DUCK Events was the single best decision I made in first year. I got the opportunity to work on amazing projects, meet great people, and most importantly raise money for incredible charities. DUCK truly offers great opportunities, not only to join the various teams and learn new skills, but also to attend and get involved in the unique events, challenges, expeditions and more we have to offer.

DUCK Events, famous for its incredible parties, killer organisational skills, and as the team that genuinely has the most fun, is probably the only place where you can party while still raising loads of money for charity. Even my friends who weren't on the team boasted about our ball, club nights and more. So even if you don't want to join in on the planning, we have so many amazing events that are incredible just to attend!

One that springs to mind is our Big Band Ball, which sold out in just 10 minutes last year. This jazz/1920s inspired event, which took place in Durham's beautiful Market Hall, was one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, making over £2,000 for Help Refugees. Accompanying the delicious food and beautiful setting was Durham's very own Big Band, who played amazing sets of classic to contemporary jazz, which got everyone up on their feet. Big Band perform in famous jazz clubs across the country, so having them at our ball is pretty unique. Big Band Ball is set to become a staple in Durham, so it is one to keep your eyes out for as spaces are limited and they will go quick again this year.

Besides our famous ball, we have loads of other events that you should definitely keep your eyes peeled for. Our annual events include the Duck Race, where we tip thousands of rubber ducks into the River Wear, and whoever’s duck (corresponding to a ticket) crosses Kingsgate Bridge first wins £400, among other insane prizes like fancy restaurant vouchers, Go Ape and more.  Our classic sold-out Disco Duck club nights have been a staple in Durham for years, and continue to attract hundreds to Durham's fave clubs from Loft to Wiff Waff. This year we have some brand new events in the works as well- so here are the ones to look out for:

- College Swaps: 10 guys from one college and 10 girls from another meet in Durham's fave local restaurant for a night of wine and good food- the perfect way for college singles to mingle!
