Development

This week we are launching our coaching and mentoring section of our Learning and Development hub. This will incorporate tools, techniques and support for students who are either coaches or mentors themselves, or who receive coaching and mentoring.

Why is coaching and mentoring so great?
If you receive coaching and mentoring it’s a great way to improve the way you work. Your coach will challenge you and help you to think critically about the way you do things and support you with new ideas and techniques for you to implement. Coaching and mentoring is a fantastic way to support you in achieving your full potential. If you are new to a leadership position, being coached or mentored by somebody experienced will give you the chance to ask questions and learn from their experiences.

If you are a coach or mentor it’s a fantastic learning experience. Many employers are now moving towards a culture where they encourage coaching and mentoring within their organisation. If you have experience in this area, this is a massive positive when applying for a job. It’s also a fulfilling experience to know you are supporting and helping somebody else to excel in their role.

What resources can you access?
Our resources are designed to support you in your role, whether you are the coach or mentor, or if you a receiving this support. These include mini-diagnostic tools, short exercise, questionnaires, video clips and much more. These will help you to understand your working style and give you tools and techniques to help you get the most out of the experience.

In addition we can provide bespoke one-to-one support for coaches or mentors, which is designed specifically for you to meet your needs.

See leadership in action with Work Insights
If you are or would like to be a coach or mentor, then our Work Insights programme is a great way for you to see an inspiring leader in practice. The programme will give you an opportunity to shadow and observe senior managers in their place of work over a one week period.
