Vegetarian and Vegan

The Vegetarian and Vegan society is first and foremost a society where information about a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle is provided to those who are curious, whether they are currently vegan, vegetarian or carnivores. We will never turn away anyone based on whether or not they are vegan/vegetarian, but will rather work towards giving people the information they need to make a conscious decision about their habits when it comes to eating meat or other animal products.

As a member of the society, you can take part in fun socials such as picnics and café visits, as well as game nights. There will also be the opportunity to do some activism, such as leafleting and bake sales, where the proceeds will go to a charity decided by the society. There is no pressure to take part in any of the events, but everyone is welcome to contribute with what they feel they are able to do.

Our aims and objectives for the society are:
•    To provide information regarding a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle
•    To have a place where people who are already vegan/vegetarian can meet other vegans/vegetarians and where they can exchange views and opinions, as well as challenges they are facing.
•    To advocate for increased availability of vegan/vegetarian alternatives in both college dining halls and restaurants in Durham
•    To show how a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle connects to other causes, such as environmentalism and healthier lifestyles
