Nightline

It's Nightline Awareness Week, so here's Durham Nightline introducing their services and the great prizes you could win this week...

Nightline is a student-run organisation who offer their time to answer the phone to Durham students who need someone to listen to them. We are open every night of term from 21:00-07:00. All conversations are anonymous and confidential, meaning whatever the content, it is never spread to other volunteers, or outside of the organisation. We are also non-judgemental and non-aligned, so you can speak to us about any topic without fear of being criticised or judged.

From 19-25 November is Nightline’s annual awareness week. This year the theme is ‘Be Heard’ and we're focusing on issues within University and students' personal life that are often ignored or pushed aside. We want to hear your personal experiences of your time at Durham, and any thoughts you have on issues that you think haven’t been heard. Whether that be by the University or other students. To help engage and raise awareness of issues that are important to you, and want to see improved, head to the Nightline Facebook page.

From 15-21 November is Nightline’s annual awareness week. The week kicked off yesterday with a smashing pub quiz at the DSU, where one team of quizzers walked away with a nice £25 cash prize, and Nightline raised £45 through entry fees and donations on the night! There’s more opportunities to get involved, including grabbing goodies at stalls we have placed at the DSU and in the Billy B. You’ll find QR codes there and around campus for where you can enter our giveaway and have the chance to win gift cards, two Odeon cinema tickets, or Nightline themed earrings. Alternatively, you can also enter here: https://forms.gle/E1He9tLbgE6P7pAx9. And finally, keep an eye on the Purple Radio website and Palatinate for pieces on Nightline and what we get up to!

If you have any interest in volunteering for Nightline, we hold a training weekend once a term, which you can attend and then go through an interview process should you wish to. Sign up becomes available near the beginning of each term. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for details on these training weekends and other Nightline information.

There are two ways of contacting Nightline: messaging us on the IM system found at durhamnightline.com or by phone. The number is on the back of your campus card, Duo or the keyrings given out in packs and at Freshers'. Call or message any night of term 21:00-07:00. Should you have any further enquiries please email us nightline@durham.ac.uk.
