Description

Durham University Mooting Society is the university’s only Law society dedicated solely to training students’ oral legal advocacy skills. Currently comprised of approximately 330 members, the society has been active since 2009. We run internal competitions, hold training workshops, host social events and dinners, as well as secure opportunities for our members to compete in external moots. Run by students, the society aims to foster a nurturing environment where all are welcome to join us, regardless of their degrees or year groups. For many members, our events offer an excellent means of developing their understanding of the legal profession - be that of a barrister or a solicitor. The society and its alumni are well connected to a range of practitioners, offering a fantastic resource for networking. Equally, membership provides a great opportunity for students who simply wish to improve their public speaking skills and meet other like-minded students in a friendly and inclusive environment.
