Founded in October 2014, Durham DJ Society's goal is to represent and promote student DJs across Durham's music and events scene.
More specifically, we aim to:
- Offer an inclusive and non-judgemental space for people to learn the many forms of electronic performance.
- Create a community for like-minded music enthusiasts to share and discuss music.
- Build a network of contacts and foster collaboration between members.
- Encourage and assist members in creating novel musical experiences across Durham.
- Run our own events to give members the chance to perform in front of a receptive audience.
- Represent electronic performance in its many forms, and work to build a culture of creative freedom for DJs in Durham.
- Provide affordable access to professional-grade DJ equipment, to maximise the inclusivity of the Durham DJ scene.
- Promote members' services to external entities like clubs and events organisers.
