Durham Caledonian Society is Durham’s finest society for Scots and pseudo Scots alike. It warmly welcomes anyone, from those who already hold a passion for reeling to complete beginners. Each week it meets in the Durham Students' Union Building for a fun and friendly practice session. This is a lovely opportunity for those who have never done it before to learn and try out some reels. Many old hands also come along to these practices to show the way and have some fun. The Caledonian Society holds three balls alongside smaller events throughout the year.
The Michaelmas Black Tie Ball is held just before Christmas, with The Epiphany White Tie Ball being held later in the year and is said to be one of the best events in Durham - a ball not to be missed! Finally, our Summer Ball rounds off the year in Easter term as the best way to celebrate the end of exam season.
