Description

This society aims for students who are interested in Asian politics and for Asian student who are studying politics or are interested in Asian politics. At the Asian Politics and International Relations (APIR) Society, we believe in equal opportunity and aim to be the first platform at Durham where students can engage with career opportunities in politics and International reactions. Our goal is to achieve: Network, Navigate, Empower. For many of us– especially asian students in the UK – education is what brought us here. Unlike others who may have pre-existing professional networks, we often start with just our knowledge and experiences. But what we do have is diversity, unique perspectives, and a shared drive to succeed. This society is about leveraging those differences, building alliances and creating a supportive community where members can exchange insights, access career guidance, and navigate opportunities together. What is different is that International students from Asian countries bring diverse cultures ( create many views, opportunity, thinking, creation, empower) . Our goal is to build a platform for career-driven students to bridge the gap between students and professionals in the political field, helping aspiring leaders navigate their careers. Hosting social events for members to network with people outside of the university, ensuring that no one feels like they have to navigate their ambitions alone. This society will mainly focus on hosting talks for members to receive insightful topics such as political jobs or internships, experience working in the field, and global issues. In this society we create equal opportunities for members to engage, involve and influence each other. Whether you are pursuing a career in politics,diplomacy,policy-making,research or beyond, APIR is here to help you connect, grow, thrive in a world where opportunities should be or everyone.
