Rent Fees

Many university SU's around the country are propoisng rent strikes upon the university. Despite DU announcing they are waiving any fees for time not spent in accomodation, other SU's are pushing this further and demanding rent cuts for the academic year (Warwick - 40% reduction for on and off campus), or for the remainder of term (Manchester - 30% reduction for the remainder of term). We could successfully do the same and help the student movement across the country. We are currently being charged the full premium that student accomdation costs, without access to hardly any facilities! As an economics student myself, I am yet to go into my own subject's building for lectures or seminars, or to use their facilities, and I am aware that has occurred for all business school subjects. Students deserve better than this.
