NUS Conference 2018 will take place on 27-29 March, and Durham SU is sending five delegates to help influence national policy on your behalf. We spoke to our delegates to find out more about their priorities. Here we have Megan Croll.

Why did you run to be an NUS Delegate?

As SU President, I am automatically selected as a delegate. Attending NUS conference is a great opportunity to represent the views and priorities of Durham students on a national level.

What issues would you like to see NUS tackle?

Housing, the costs students face, and mental health are all issues I’d like to see NUS prioritise. They’re particularly relevant to Durham students as we have just set up a Tenants’ Union, are running our Ripped Off campaign, and will soon be launching a postgraduate mental health campaign. The conference motions have good breadth, so there should be some interesting discussion.

What are you most looking forward to at the NUS Conference 2018?

I’m most looking forward to everyone from around the country coming together to discuss national issues, and hopefully implementing policy that will make visible and long lasting change. I’m also looking forward to seeing my NUS pals!
