NUS Conference 2018 will take place on 27-29 March, and Durham SU is sending five delegates to help influence national policy on your behalf. We spoke to our delegates to find out more about their priorities. Here we have Clara Gallay.

Why did you run to be an NUS Delegate?

I ran for NUS Delegate mainly because I saw it as an opportunity to raise awareness on the difficulties international students have to face compared to the wider body of students. Also, as an SU rep, I already represent students from my college, and I was really interested in discovering what it was like to do the same on a wider scale!

What issues would you like to see NUS tackle?

As I already mentioned, my main priorities will be international students’ representation, but also tackling sexual misconduct on campus, and taking care of the problem of housing.

What are you most looking forward to at the NUS Conference 2018?

I have my eyes on a few motions, especially in the HE zone, namely one about counteracting the effects of Brexit on both international and home students, and a few others on international students’ representation. Also, it's very exciting that our delegation have so many great motions to present, and I hope they will be discussed!
