Want to make the most of all the Durham SU events taking place in Freshers' Week? Use the timetable below to make sure you don't miss any! None of our events are ticketed and all but the quiz are free.

You'll also find lots of events going on in your college and within the University, so make sure to check out their websites and social media for information about those. And if you're finding Freshers' just a bit too confusing, check out our article here which should clear things up.

27 September: International Welcome Night

The whole of our building will be taken over with undergraduates and postgraduates from all across Durham, so you can get to know each other and settle into Durham. There'll be karaoke and a ceilidh to keep you entertained!

28 September: Postgraduate Welcome Night

This laid-back event for postgraduates and mature students will help you meet students from other colleges and have a good chat. It’ll be a nice chilled evening before Freshers’ Week fully begins.

2 and 3 October: Freshers’ Fair

All of our student groups, Team Durham, Durham Theatre, Durham Music and Student Community Action come together for two days, giving you the chance to see what activities you want to try. You’ll probably find groups you never thought existed and a load of freebies too. Please note: with so many groups to house, we’ve had to spread them across two days, so make sure to come on both Wednesday and Thursday if you don’t want to miss anyone.

4 October: Vintage CLOTHING SALE

The first of our vintage sales, find yourself some new threads for your first term at university at this sale run by Headlock Vintage. All items cost below £15, including brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Nike, and Adidas.

6 October: First Domino’s Pub Quiz of the year

Sunday nights at Durham SU's Riverside Bar are host to our Domino’s Pub Quiz. With free pizza, great drinks offers and the chance to win some money, what more could you ask for? The first quiz of the year, hosted by your SU Officer team, is always the busiest so make sure you get down early to get a seat. The quiz starts at 20:00 and is £1 to enter.

5-16 OCTOBer: Give it a go week

After the busyness of Freshers’ is over, our student groups host a week of Give It a Go events. These are free taster sessions that allow you to try out activities with no commitment. This year you can try everything from ice skating to life drawing.

12 october: vintage kilo sale

For just £15 per kilo you can kit yourself out in brands including Nike, Fila, Levis, and Lacoste at this Kilo Sale run by Vintage Vera. It's a sustainable way to get your wardrobe winter-ready.
