Course rep wins article

Your course reps have been doing a brilliant job making sure academic staff are taking your views into account. If you have any issues on your course, remember your course reps are always there to represent you.

So, how have course reps had an impact on dissertation hand-ins?

Simon Wannagat  – Postgraduate Taught Law LLM rep
During my role as course rep for the LLM Taught programme I have changed the dissertation submission method.Until the last SSC meeting, dissertations had to be handed in as hard copies at the beginning of September. This posed a challenge to many overseas and international students since tenancy agreements expire nearly always in June.

Therefore, many students in recent years have been compelled to leave the city early and post their dissertation to Durham, which is anything but quick and reliable. Further, the hard copy submission is not in line with the Law School's environmental policies and aims to reduce paper waste.

Therefore, at the start of the academic year, I proposed a change to rely exclusively on online submissions. This has been approved in the last SSC meeting and hence improved the students' overall study experience and the Law School's
environmental impact.
