Durham Student Filmmaking is Durham’s intercollegiate filmmaking society. Our main goal is to provide members with the skills and resources necessary to produce high-quality films. Previous experience is not necessary, we aim to teach new members everything they need to know about filmmaking. This is done through weekly meetings along with regular challenges and workshops. These include 24-hour film challenges, or longer productions, where teams will make short films within a set timeframe. Each year we host the annual Durham Film Festival where we take in entries from Durham students and across the globe. The society also offers a number of services such as equipment hire, and opportunities to produce promotional videos and documenting events. We aim to cater to all interests, be it directing, writing, acting, camera work, or even music, set design, and more. Durham Student Filmmaking welcomes anyone wishing to pursue a career in the film industry, or just looking to learn and have a good time.
