NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR DUCK EXEC POSITIONS

A position on the exec for DUCK is an incredibly opportunity to:

  • Develop yourself as a student leader
  • Receive finance and management training from the student’s union
  • Enhance your organisation and communication capabilities
  • Develop your ability to overcome challenges
  • Work as a team to achieve an end goal
  • Actively support local, national and global causes

Challenges Officer
This position involves overseeing the organisation of unique, interesting and challenging events!

This year, that includes tough guy, skydive and living below the line, as well as a hitchhiking event which culminates with a formal dinner in Castle’s great hall!

These events are incredibly rewarding and raise money for good causes.

Of course you will have a team behind you to which you can delegate, but your organisation and creativity is crucial.

Ultimately, you will be in charge of the challenge events and thus have an opportunity to organise them how you feel is best!

Ragraids Officer
This involves organising bucket collections in various locations.

Ragraids are incredibly social, they give students amazing opportunities to get out of Durham for the weekend.

But most importantly, they are highly efficient at raising large sums of money for charitable causes.

The ragraid officer would be in charge of organising permits for bucket collections and promoting the ragraid events.

Fundraising Officer
This position is an intersection between other teams on DUCK and a highly innovative and valuable role!

Through this role you will be running fundraising workshops to assist participants taking part in DUCK events such that they are developed and supported.

DUCK events can provide challenging fundraising totals to students, therefore it is the responsibility of the fundraising officer to make this goal more achievable and less daunting.

Thus it involves providing actual advice on tips and events as well as motivation and encouragement.

If you’re interested in applying, please send an A4 size manifesto to dsu.duck-chair@durham.ac.uk before Wednesday the 26 October.

The manifesto must include what the role entails, why you think you are suitable, and any plans you have for the role.

Hustings will be held on Thursday 27 October at 18:30 in Durham SU.

Any questions can be sent to: dsu.duck-chair@durham.ac.uk
