Inclusive Christian Movement Durham

The Inclusive Christian Movement Durham (ICMD) is an affirming Christian society open to people of all denominations interested in progressive Christianity. 

We are mostly based in Elvet Methodist Church and host evening sessions based around presentations and discussion sessions around various Christian figures, Bible passages, historical events and areas of historical controversy. We also host occasional worship evenings with Bible readings and hymns. 

We are explicitly affirming to LGBTQ+ persons, while also providing a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible for people who have complicated relationships with the Christian faith or who are not yet sure where they stand. We also are committed to disability accessibility, and both of the Methodist churches we use have accessibility lifts. 

ICMD has links with wider groups in Durham, including the Durham City Methodists, St Oswald's Anglican Church and the Student Christian Movement. We also attend events such as the Methodist’s annual Welcome Lunch and Transgender Day of Remembrance Service and the Durham City Pride.
