The Durham University Finance Society (DUFS) is Durham’s largest society (3,000+ members) and has been Durham's premier finance society for decades.

DUFS bridges the gap between academic study and careers in high finance. We provide the training, professional networks, and hands-on experience needed to navigate the industry via our selective core platforms, institutional sponsors, and 40+ annual events. Open to all backgrounds, we make a career in finance an achievable reality for every Durham student.


Core Platforms:

DUFS Market Report / M&A Group:
The Market Report is a student-led research division and DUFS' oldest platform. Members publish long- and short-form analysis on global capital markets and macroeconomic policy, distributed publicly to students and industry recruiters to build verifiable professional portfolios.

Housed within the Market Report is the DUFS M&A Group, driving our transaction-specific insights. This unit trains students in rigorous financial analysis through publishing M&A transaction-focused articles and hosting termly M&A pitch competitions, where members present actionable transaction theses to gain practical, deal-focused experience.


DUFS Investment Fund:
The Investment Fund is Durham's only real money student investment fund, and gives students hands-on experience researching real companies and pitching investment ideas. Analysts work in sector teams, developing the skills used by investment professionals to analyse businesses, value companies and build investment theses. The fund focuses on fundamental long/short equity investing, and hosts termly stock pitch competitions judged by institutional sponsors and senior industry professionals.


DUFS Quant Fund:
The DUFS Quant Fund introduces students to quantitative finance and explores how systematic, data-driven approaches are used across financial markets. The fund is designed for students interested in understanding the work of quantitative researchers and traders and gaining exposure to the industry.
