About Us

Durham University Bar Society is a student led organisation aiming to provide opportunities and information to members who are considering a career at the Bar. 

In particular, we will place particular emphasis on preparing members for mini-pupillage, pupillage, marshalling and BPTC applications. We do this by holding a variety of events, such as:

  • Career talks
  • Networking dinners at chambers and Inns of Court 
  • Application Workshops 
  • Mock Trials 
  • Mentoring Scheme (newly founded in 2021!)
  • Trips to courts 
  • Our patron of the society is Lady Hale!

By purchasing a membership to this group you agree to:

  • comply with the terms of this Constitution, the Student Group Agreement and all relevant Durham SU or Durham University regulations, rules and codes of practice which can be found on the Durham SU and Durham University websites, and
  • act in the best interests of the Student Group and Durham SU and uphold the Student Group's Aims and the objects of Durham SU.
