About Us
It’s undeniable that we’ve all complained about the harsh Durham weather, so imagine what it’s like for those who cannot escape it. We are a society that is passionate about helping those who are homeless and financially vulnerable in Durham to survive this merciless cold. We operate a clothing bank (clothes donation point) in the SU, able to be accessed on all days of the week, that primarily accepts: winter hats, scarfs, gloves, socks, jumpers, coats, blankets, hot hands, hot water bottles and other winter items. We then donate these items to local charities or distribute them ourselves locally. We are keen to raise awareness about the prevalence of homelessness, the lethal effects of harsh temperatures and how social structural issues can perpetuate homelessness. We also discuss solutions and how support can be offered (we are keen to hear all ideas!). Lastly, we also have impactful events and volunteering opportunities (some in partnership with local Durham charities). We have loads in store– stay tuned! As students in Durham lets impact our community. Let’s impact a life. #wear4warmth #W4W
