About Us
The Durham Think Tank is a student-led, non-partisan initiative. It is dedicated to fostering critical thinking, rigorous research, and high-quality academic writing.
We bring together students from across all academic disciplines to analyse and address complex regional and global issues. At its core, a think tank is a research-driven organisation that develops ideas, conducts analysis, and informs public debate.
As a student think tank, we provide a platform for young thinkers to explore diverse topics — such as politics, economics, technology, the environment, and human rights — through independent, evidence-based research and publication.
Our work spans multiple formats: concise opinion pieces, sector-specific analyses, and our flagship annual report. We support our analysts with training in research methods, non-partisan writing, and editorial standards to ensure the clarity, credibility, and impact of everything we publish.
Beyond publishing, we host panel discussions, guest lectures, and networking events that connect our members with leading academics, professionals, and policy experts. These events are designed to encourage dialogue, debate, and the development of key professional skills.
If you are a lawyer looking to get into finance, or if you're in the technology industry and looking to get into international relations or vice versa, we got you. We help our members add something to their CVs by providing them with opportunities to be actively involved in exclusive events. Whether you're interested in sharing your ideas, engaging in academic discourse, or developing as a researcher, the Think Tank offers a vibrant, inclusive environment for intellectual and professional growth. As a unique space at the intersection of all disciplines, we aim to foster curiosity, collaboration, and informed debate.
