Overview
Workshop Structure: The Human Art of Life Modelling
  • Welcome & Intentions: An open, warm circle discussion on why participants want to model, focusing on body acceptance, honesty, and shifting the mindset from "beauty" to artistic "form".
  • The Studio Walk-through: A complete chronological journey of a session from arrival to departure. This covers navigating different facilitator styles, varying room layouts, and how elements like flooring types can affect physical comfort.
  • Poses: A visual analysis using IT equipment to look at shapes, muscles, and lines. We will discuss what the artist sees and learn how to identify poses that are both dynamic for the artist and sustainable for the model.
  • The Adaptable Practitioner: Tuning into body self-awareness. Understanding that what your body can do one day might change the next, and how to practice at home using photography to see what works.
  • The Practice Run: A practical, two-part exercise to build confidence. We will begin with clothed posing to test out different shapes and comfort levels. We will then split the group to run a realistic, turn-taking loop where participants can try modelling nude and drawing their peers. This is a completely optional reality check designed to give them a feel for the room, with full permission to sit out if they decide it isn't for them.
  • The Gentle Decision: A final warm debrief and Q&A, ensuring every student leaves knowing whether they wish to go ahead, armed with all the information to be a success.
