I will make sure that postgraduates at Durham have the power to shape their education through representation and effective organising.
Why? We need our postgraduates to have a louder voice within our University community
I will improve induction, communication and supervision for postgraduate research students by collaboratively building a best practice model
Why? because our research students are supported to very different standards across the University, and we want to bring all support up to the highest standards.
I will champion best practice in postgraduate mental health support in Durham.
Why? Because postgraduates are often vulnerable in their employment and academic situations and they deserve to be supported.
I’m Sabrina and your Postgraduate Academic Officer for 2017/18. I’m a PhD student in Psychology and I also did my Masters here, so I’ve been in Durham for five years and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. My favourite thing about my postgraduate studies was getting involved in College and the Students’ Union and getting to know so many great people. My key piece of advice to you would be to get involved in as many things as you can. I know live as postgraduate can be very busy, but it is so important to have the right balance of work and free time.
I’m the first PG Academic Officer at Durham SU and we have very exciting times ahead of us. Postgrads have been overlooked by the University for quite some time and I’m here to change that. My job is to make sure that the postgraduate voice gets heard and I will make sure you have a great time in Durham.
