Update from Jess: sharing and recognising our members’ activities

As a students’ union, we’re really proud to be a home for debate and the sharing of opinion. We’re a place where students with different views come together, and we provide a platform for elevating their views.
Though we cannot be party political, we are democratic and a place of political education. We support our members to do big and exciting things, and we’re proud that students in Durham engage critically with the world around them.
In sharing the views and activities of our members, we are celebrating students and their expression of opinion on the issues that really matter to them. This doesn’t mean that we are advocating those particular views, but that we believe in providing the physical and digital space to express them. In fact, we host student groups with a wide range of viewpoints and many don’t agree with one another. This is just one of the ways that we champion all students in Durham.
We welcome our members asking our help celebrating and sharing their activities, and we will always provide a platform for our students, as long as their activity is legal and fits with our values.
