The Student Activities Impact Survey
I am very excited to announce the launch of the second part of my research project into the participation and impact of student activities at Durham! It would be really great if you, as execs, could complete the second survey and promote the first to your members. There are some extra incentives to complete the surveys:
+ Individuals could win one of five £10 Amazon vouchers (for completing the individual impact survey)
+ One lucky SU student group will win £50 funding (for completing the group impact survey)
If you’re interested, a bit more detail…
This stage of the project will look at both the experiences of individuals taking part in student group activities, and the impact groups themselves have on the wider community (both within and outside of the University).
Having a substantial amount of data on the impact of student activities would:
+ Provide a greater understanding of students’ experiences;
+ Enable greater recognition of the wide range of things student achieve outside of their studies;
+ Evidence the importance of extracurricular activities at university.
This data would be invaluable for ensuring that resources are suitably invested in student activities, which in future could include campaigning for greater funding. Additionally, with the development of a new university strategy and the University Estate itself, now is a great opportunity for us to embed the importance of all student groups (regardless of which organisation they are a part of) and of having quality facilities to support the diverse range of activities students participate in.
