Welcome to the Durham University Gliding Society!
We’re excited to welcome old and new pilots to this unique and exhilarating sport; if you dream of soaring through the sky, employing quick thinking, skill, and the power of Earth’s atmosphere to drift above the beautiful Yorkshire moors, then you have come to the right place.
We fly with the Yorkshire Gliding Club at Sutton Bank Airfield, where members train with experienced instructors in a two-seater glider. We welcome pilots of all abilities; from seasoned flyers, to complete beginners, you have the sky at your fingertips. Whether you desire a gentle, scenic flight through the countryside, or high-speed barrel rolls and mid-air stalling at 3,000 feet, these aircraft will handle anything you throw at them.
