Description

Durham University Caledonian Society is Durham’s finest society for Scots and pseudo Scots alike. It warmly welcomes anyone, from those who already hold a passion for reeling to complete beginners. Each week it meets in the DSU for a fun and friendly practice session. This is a lovely opportunity for those who have never done it before to learn and try out some reels. Many old hands also come along to these practices to show the way and have some fun. The Caledonian society also holds three balls each year where everyone can reel the night away. The Black Tie Ball is held just before Christmas in Durham as a small taster for the White Tie Ball held later in the year which is said to be one of the best events in Durham, a ball not to be missed.

Our aims as a society are to meet each week at the DSU for a fun and friendly session, where beginners and more experienced reelers can practise and learn. In addition to this we host three balls throughout the course of the year; the Black Tie Ball is held just before Christmas in Durham as a small taster for the White Tie Ball held later in the year.
