Update from the President

The NUS have called a National Ballot for a vote on the following question:   ‘Should NUS conduct and publish a risk assessment and equality impact assessment before finalising the National Student Survey boycott / sabotage action?’

The other Officers and I have unanimously supported this call, as we have concerns about the effectiveness and the risks of a boycott.  Our Union’s position is determined by a vote of Assembly.   The deadline to submit our position on the National Ballot is 8 December.  As this is a topic that will take a bit of time to discuss and debate, we are seeking support to hold an extraordinary Assembly the week of 21 November.   This meeting will be an additional meeting devoted to the National Ballot and TEF. We still plan to hold a regular meeting on 6 December for all other business.

While members/trustees will have the final call on if the meeting is to be held, if it is confirmed all students will have the opportunity to attend and participate in the discussion.
