Hannah Sketchley

Hannah Sketchley

Hannah came into the student movement in 2010 and hasn’t left yet. She currently works for NUS, having previously worked at Cambridge University Students’ Union and been an elected officer at SU UCL. She’s interested in democracy and the student movement, redistributing power in education and creating space for students and young people to organise. She fundamentally believes that teenagers will save the world, and has this reaffirmed every week when running a Girlguiding unit in South London.

Clare Powne

Clare Powne

Clare studied at the University of Edinburgh and at University College London. She then chose to keep her first degree subject, music, as a hobby, and to make a career in libraries. She has worked in seven universities in Scotland, England and Australia where she spent 6 years at Sydney University Library in the 1990s. She was part of the senior management team at Durham University Library for 9 years, leaving in 2009 to take responsibility for library provision at Lancaster University. Since retiring from the post of Head of Library & Culture Services at the University of Exeter in 2018, she has been a Lay Trustee for Durham Students Union and also serves in the same capacity for Teesside University. Her family's connections to Durham University cross three generations; both of her parents were Durham graduates, as are her cousin, nephew and niece and their respective spouses. Clare lives in beautiful lower Teesdale in South-West County Durham, which is fine cycling country. She sometimes play the viola rather badly.
